Definitions of Authorship on our Paintings and Sculptures:
Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion a work by the artist. When the artist's forename(s) is not known, a series of asterisks, followed by the surname of the artist, whether preceded by an initial or not, indicates that in our opinion the work is by the artists named.
Attributed to Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion probably a work by the artist but less certainty as to authorship is expressed than in the preceding category.
Studio of Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion a work by an unknown hand in the studio of the artist, which may or may not have been executed under the artist's direction.
Circle of Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion a work by an as yet unidentified by distinct hand, closely associated with the named artist but not necessarily his pupil.
Style of Pietro Bazzanti; follower of Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion a work by a painter working in the artist's style, contemporary or near contemporary, but not necessarily his pupil.
Manner of Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion a work in the style of the artist and of a later date.
After Pietro Bazzanti: In our opinion a copy of a known work of the artist.
The term signed and/or dated and/or inscribed means that in our opinion the signature and/or date and/or inscription are from the hand of the artist.
The term bears a signature and/or date and/or inscription means that in our opinion the signature and/or date and/or inscription have been added by another hand.
"bearing signature..."/"bearing date..."/"bearing inscription..." In our opinion the signature/date/inscription is by a hand other than that of the artist.
SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING THE SALE AND EXPORT OF ITEMS CONTAINING MATERIALS FROM ENDANGERED SPECIES AND REQUIRE A CITES EXPORT PERMIT:
The export of items from the United States or import into certain countries may be subject to export and import regulations, licensure and/or other restrictions; in particular, lots containing animal material such as ivory, rhinoceros horn, tortoise shell, coral or whalebone may require the granting of one or more export or import licenses or may be banned from import altogether by some countries. Lots that contain these aforementioned materials may also not be eligible for exportation if they are not over one hundred years of age. It is the buyer's responsibility to investigate any such restrictions and to obtain any relevant export or import licenses. Please note that this process is governed by local authorities and may take considerable time. Regardless of any delay in the obtaining of an export or import license or denial of a license's issuance, purchased lots shall be paid for in accordance with the Conditions of Sale, and any such delay or denial shall not serve as the basis for cancellation of any sale. Prospective buyers are advised to obtain information from the relevant regulatory authorities regarding export and import restrictions, requirements, and costs prior to buying. Upon request, Jan's & Co. Antiques, Inc. can refer the purchaser to an agent who can assist the purchaser in attempting to obtain the appropriate licenses. However, there is no assurance that any necessary licenses can be obtained.
SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING THE SALE OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS:
Buyer understands and acknowledges that all antique musical instruments such as pianos, harps and others that are being offered for sale at Jan's & Co. Antiques, Inc. are mainly sold for their decorative value. Most antique piano keys are made of ivory and many countries prohibit or restrict importation or exportation of property containing ivory, tortoiseshell, whalebone, and/or products derived from other endangered or protected species, and require special licenses or permits (CITES) in order to import or export such property. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that the property is properly exported and imported into the buyer's country (Please refer to the above notice regarding the export of items containing materials from endangered species).
