A Very Fine French 19th Century Patinated Bronze Figural Group of "The Fencing Lesson" by Adrien-Etienne Gaudez (French, 1845-1902) Depicting a fencing lesson, the master directing the child pupil who holds a rapier, each dressed in 17th century costume with cape and hat at their feet, signed A. Gaudez, the front of the plinth with aplaque inscribed "This bronze was recovered from under the debris in the store of Shreve & Company destroyed by fire after the earthquake, April 18th, 1906." Circa: 1880
