A Very Fine French 19th Century Patinated Bronze Group of a Foreign Legion Soldier "Blandan", by Jean Gautherin (1840-1890). Inscribed BLANDAN on front of base, and on right side, Jean Gautherin, Hors Concours ("outside the competition"). Circa: 1880
Jean Gautherin was born in the Village of Ouroux. He is best known for his statue of Diderot in the Place Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Paris.
