Henri Picard was a renown French founder and gilder in Paris from 1831 to 1884. The company Henri Picard Frers. was founded in Switzerland in 1857. Picard is best known for his high quality bronze castings and gilding and he is listed in the National Archives of France as a bronze maker and gilder, having worked for Napoleon III as well as for his participation to the jointure of the Tuilerie and the Louvre from 1853 to 1865. A pair of twelved light gilt-bronze candelabras by Picard are listed as part of the collection at The Musée du Louvre.
