In 1885, at forty years of age, Friedrich Goldscheider founded in Vienna 'Goldscheider'sche Porzellan-Manufaktur und Majolica-Fabrik' . The factory produced a wide variety of ceramics, ranging from faience kitchenware to luxurious porcelain objects. However, its polychrome terracotta figures like this one in particular have established its reputation and fame.
