Description:

A Magnificent and Palatial Italian 19th Century Carved White Carrara Marble Sculpture of "Mother and Son" by Ambrogio Borghi (Italian 1849-1887). The mother and son sculpture depict a young mother sitting on his baby's weaved rocking crib, while playfully holding him as he kisses her on the cheek. This sculpture is one of a pair of sculptures by Borghi that were removed The Famous Hyatt Rickey Hotel and Resort in Palo Alto, California.

The other sculpture, "Mother and Daughter", also by Borghi, depicts a young mother reprimanding her young daughter while she cries at her lap. Each sculpture raised on their original matching pair of two-tone veined French Alps Noir Maurin and Griotte Uni marble pedestal stands. Signed and dated, Amb. Borghi, 1876
