Description:
A Magnificent and Palatial Italian 19th Century Carved White Carrara Marble Sculpture of "Mother and Daughter" by Ambrogio Borghi (Italian 1849-1887). The Mother and Daughter sculpture depicts a young mother reprimanding her young daughter while she cries at her lap. This sculpture is one of a pair of sculptures by Borghi that were removed The Famous Hyatt Rickey Hotel and Resort in Palo Alto, California.

The other sculpture, "Mother and Son", also by Borghi, depict a young mother sitting on his baby's weaved rocking crib, while playfully holding him as he kisses her on the cheek. Each sculpture is raised on their original matching pair of two-tone veined French Alps Noir Maurin and Griotte Uni marble pedestal stands. Signed and dated, A. Borghi, 1876.
